Rural Project - Sallys Flat, The Shed
The brief: To design a sheltered gathering place outside of the main residence of the clients’ property located in Sallys Flat.
It is to be a place for the clients’ guests - who are seasoned hunters; to reside in during the late afternoons and nights after hunting expeditions.
The client required that it be a place to shower, cook the meat, share a meal, relax and enjoy the company of fellow hunters; whilst enjoying the views of “the hill” - as the hunters often refer to it.
The building pays homage to the existing shed structure that currently precedes the site; providing a structural, through the use of a purpose - built recessed floor, sheltered “gathering place” akin to that of the traditional camp fires in rural outback. The structure marries materials; harmoniously, timber, which is inspired by the landscape; along with steel, typically used for Australian sheds.
